Glucosamine Sulphate with chondriotin works for me, fish oils are good too.
If you have strained something then rest is the only real answer.
If I get a strain or muscle pull I do confess to training around the injury. I guess I am like most bodybuilders, giving up is not an option, but I do train with longevity in mind, I have to at my age!

Cnp joint formula seems to have the highest concentrations of glucosomine and chondroitin.

If the joint is hurting when you use a specific exercise... DONT do it! Even if it your favourite, just be imaginitive and train around it.
Failing that, go to your gp and see if you can get free treatment like have just done for my rotator cuff.

dull ache like arm ache/leg ache when you were young just on joints of arms. last for 3 hours roughly then goes away with rest. starts up again as soon as i do set of arms again though even with 2 days rest

sounds like tendon problem, unfortunatly tendons are nonregenerating which means it will be a reaccuring injury, most bodybuilders suffer from this from time to time, ice therapy directly after training will speed up recovery, also tendonitus is an inflammation so ibuprofen 20 mins before training will help too, and REST, sorry to say it but can take upto 6 months for it to go, so try and avoid the movements that make it worse, hope this helps
