Hello to all - my first post!
My stats are 22years old- 6ft -12.5/13 Stone
Ive been hitting the gym now for about 3months - 3/4 times a week
Mostly focusing on Weights more than cardio.

I believe I now have an exercise (bench pressing a certain way) that works for my chest (increasing pec's size) so im trying to stick with it.

But i want to achieve good ab's, by good I mean ribbed abs.
I have recently been doing sit-ups with a 5kg weight on my chest usually 100 per gym session to try and help this.

Upon reading up on how to achieve good strong and visible ribbed ab's it appears as though I will have to loose some of the fat around my stomach area.(Im not fat or flabby by any means, im slim, but you can grab a layer of fat if you pinch my stomach which I have read; I need to loose this layer for the abs to become more visible). It appears I will have to do cardio work to do this.

My fear is that I will burn muscle if I am to start doing hard cardio work and I don’t want to loose and of the muscles (especially of my chest/pec's) by doing cardio work. I have also read that you cant target an area to burn the "fat" and Id have to do all over cardio.

Weather its any help:
I have recently started to take supplements: Whey Protein Shake and some creatine powder - to aid in the process.
My diet, whilst not FANTASTIC, is a balanced diet.

So basically im after some advice to keep the balance so I can increase my abs size whilst still increasing my pec's/chest. I have searched high and low but cant seem to find a diet/workout to suit me.
Sorry if any of the questions seem stupid/newbish, just a friend recommended this site to me.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum badadd

Everyone has abs, theyre just hidden by a layer of fat, also good abdominal development is genetic, as with all muscle groups.

To see your ab development your diet has to be super strict with no sugars at all with the exception of a post workout meal.

Check out my section on the photos and you can view my diet, although this is pre-comp and tailored towards my body, it will give you some idea.

Post your diet on here and if you need assistance we will be happy to help you

Losing bodyfat doesnt mean you will lose muscle, its a myth... i actually grow when i diet becouse my protein intake and supplementation is so high, this goes for other people also!
If you lose muscle then something is wrong with your diet or the intensity of cardio is too high.
I aim for around 120-130 beats per minute, and this is consistant.

Start with 30 mins daily  before breakfast (burns fat 3-4 times more efficiantly on empty stomach) and also this is when your glycogen levels are at their lowest so your body has no choice but to burn fat for fuel!

Cardio and a sugar free diet are the secrets to getting ripped, train all you want my friend but if your diet isnt bang on then you aint seeing nuthin!

Thanks for some excellent advice bigkeiko!
Im now starting as of yesterday to run for 20mins most mornings as well as swueezing in a run in the afternoon gym session if i can, before my evening meal so my stomach is empty'ish/
My diet isn't brilliant but I dont see it as bad for my age, I couldnt realy post my diet as its so varied!  ! But I see it as a good things that age of 22 I am paying attention to the ammount of FAT that is in the foods I eat, and think that i could do to loose a bit of wieght or "flab" around my ab area.
I was taking protien shakes and creatine before I go to bed after a workout day. However after some advice i have now started taking my creatine mixed with hot water after my workout. I am a little concered that the PROTIEN shakes will make me fatter as such?
Thanks
