Hi, I am a skinny 17 year old male. 5'9 and 10stone. I have been searching the internet for a while and have been getting more and more confused. Basically I want to bulk up on my upper body because I look really skinny(my legs and lower body isn't a problem because I used to do a lot of running and football) I would like to get bigger arms, chest and overall upper body and I have available a dumbbell and barbell set but that is is. I am planning on buying 'york weightgainer protein supplement' from argos.
I am not doing this half heartedly at all and I expect to do some hard work and be very disciplined(not expecting quick fix).
Could anyone please suggest a basic routine using barbells/dumbbells which I can use to increase my upper body size please(plus advice on diet).
I would be genuinely really grateful if anyone can offer any advice and am hoping that after I have done some basic training at home I could join a gym and take it seriously.
I am not exactly a weakling at the mo becaus i do press ups and chin ups every day, I just look really skinny!!!
I forgot to add that I eat LOADS. My family are always shocked by my appetite and I often have a bowl of cereal or two before bed and during the day between meals because I never seem to lose my appetite. I eat more than rest of my family combined normally at dinner(no exxageration) but I still don't put on weight(I have very healthy balanced diet-lots of vegetables, fruit, meat, water etc) thanks again
Hi Tman - many people think that they eat loads - but when you sit down and work out calories it really isnt that much. I dont know what you actually eat - but a few extra bowls of cereals isnt really bodybuilding food. I suggest eating 5-6 meals dialy combining protein and carbs with small amounts of good fats at each meal. Try to eat atleast 4 whole food meals and a few shakes. Top and bottom line is - however much you are eating if you are not gaining weight you are not eating enough. Eat more food you will grow - your body wont ignore the extra food - its basic human biology!
