I play PC games.. Call of duty.. EVE Online and what not.. they pass the time!

But my current one seems to be playing up..

Strangley my anti virus is always saying there is no cookies or virus's on it.. tho few months ago it was deleting cookies every day! i got mcafae..

Atm i got 2g ram.. dual core processor.. its decent but the games comming out are causing it to slow up!

How much would THE best PC cost me if custom built..any one know ?

Tank, what graphics card have you at the moment and what OS, is it VISTA or XP.  Anyway 2GB of SDRAM is ample for anything apart from video editing, so you don't need any more.
Go to this website

http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html

and download the program called "HIGHJACKTHIS" run it.Select "Do a system scan only". copy the results and then paste then onto this thread so I can see if you have any nasties on your PC.
I have a similar set-up to you and have no problem with games e.g. BATTLEFIELD 1942., etc.

Also if you haven't already got this program, download it CCLEANER and run it at least once a week.

Hi tank,

If you are going to build your self a leet gaming rig I think you could get one for about a 900, but that's not inc monitor and OS!

I always recommend the Dell XPS if your not to sure about building your own! that's what I am going to get next time I upgrade, always build my own PC's but my mate's got an XPS.... crysis looks mint on it! Plus you can get a 3 year warranty with it! Always handy when over clocking....

use to play eve online during my collage years the many nights I wasted poding n00bs when i was suppose to be doing my assignments.... lol

if your PC is playing up try - http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html  its a good peace of software i use it for getting rid of spyware/adware, un wanted registry entrys etc..!

Cheers

Jonny

Tank, I've been thorugh the HIJACKTHIS list and there doesn't seem to be any problem, but I don;t think the following are needed.  You can deleted them using HIJACK if you want.

O2 - BHO: Groove GFS Browser Helper - {72853161-30C5-4D22-B7F9-0BBC1D38A37E} –

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exe

09 - Extra button: Send to OneNote - {2670000A-7350-4f3c-8081-5663EE0C6C49} - C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office12\ONBttnIE.dll

O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: S&end to OneNote - {2670000A-7350-4f3c-8081-5663EE0C6C49} - C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office12\ONBttnIE.dll

I see you're running VISTA,  have a lok at this website where you can really speed up VISTA by disabling unnecessary start up programs.  I've disabled about 30 or so which aren;t needed at all. One of the big slowdowns is a program called SUPERFETCH which can use up a whole lot of you chips processing power.
http://www.blackviper.com/WinVista/Archive/servicecfg.htm

Something which is less dramatic is go to the START at the bottom left of the screen.
Type in "msconfig" (without the inverted commas.)
A new menu appears.
Click on START UP tab and you can then de-select the programs you don't want to start up when you switch on the PC. A lot of these you don't need!

UMAR, first run a virus check, go to http://www.grisoft.com and download the FREE version od AVG8. The go to http://www.ccleaner.com/ and download the free version of Ccleaner.  Run AVG and then run Ccleaner. This will clean up your PC.
To get to the start menu go to the bottom left corner of your PC and above START type in "msconfig" without the commas.  Then click on the STARTUP tab on the new menu which will appear.  Disable those programs which you don't need on starting up you PC which will be nearly all of them. Let us know how you get on. Do you run XP or VISTA?

yeah tank, just make sure you have saved everything you want to keep on a memory stick or CD, like doc's, and pics etc. takes me about a 4 hours to do re install it thats including xp install, drivers, software i want and all the friggin windows updates.

make sure you have all your drivers to hand for you graphics card motherboard etc... if you dont have the CD then go serfing the net for downloads to burn on a CD.
