Hello Guys

My Dad is 56 and just been diagnosed with diabetes type2, he is 16 stone 6 and approx 6 foot, I know he needs to do more exercise and to eat properly, however I am not sure what sort of diet he should be on, ie high carbohydrates, low carbs, high protein etc. If anyone has any advice I would be really greatful. Also any exercise plans would be great. Thanks

With a diabetic. He will have to eat  the same ammount of food each day..Not have a big meal one day then a small meal the day after as that will change the glucose levels too much.

It also has to be at the same time each day to keep levels under control .

Breaky could be

60g of weetabix , minis , fruit and nut crips
200ml of semi skimmed milk
1 probitic drink ( actimel )
1 banana

lunch

1 pitta bread
3 slices of ham
3 tbs of low fat cottage cheese
1 mixed salad
1 fruit

dinner

oven baked salmon risotto sounds nice

snacks?? muffin with turkey and cheery tomatoes

hope that helps

Look up info on google mate about the glycemic index.

Basically it's built around glucose with a GI of 100 and how all other foods relate to it. It was actually designed to help diabetics control their blood sugars but very handy for all of us
