when i strted training i couldnt do 10 normal pushups ,now i can do 15 reps one handed ,so basically it takes time ,some people will make gaines quicker than others , but so what it isnt a race ,i view it as a battle between my mind and my body ,positive mental attitude ,= mind says do it ,body does it.

All i can suggest on that is practice makes perfect. I was very good at press ups, and one handed as it was all part of my martial arts training... but i wasnt too clever at the start so dont give up and keep practising!
Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, very strong on some exercises and not so good on others.
Some are strong on pulling movements and not so good on pushing movements. I think you will find that the majority of people, male or female have the same problem so you aint got nothing to worry about.. just keep plugging away and DONT GIVE UP! ;)
