Hi Guys

At the tender age of 41 i've decided i need to improve my body shape. I haven't exercised for about 5 years, but prior to thati exercised regularly. I joined a gym about 4 months ago and did 6 weeks cardio work and medium weights to get my body used to working out. I have then followed the Muscle & Fitness mag workout "12 weeks to a beach body" and the results have been reasonably good for someone who has always struggled to put weight on or develop muscle. My problem is i am always feeling completely knackered. Once i get in the gym and start working out it improves but usually end up crawling out the gym like an OAP.

My diet consists usually of the following

7:00 Porridge with a banana and a casein shake
10:30 Tuna & onion sandwich on wholemeal bread
13:00 Jacket spud with either beans/cheese, tuna or egg mayo
15:30 Tuna & onion sandwich on wholemeal bread
18:00 Main meal of either chicken risotto, meatballs & pasta or Jacket spud & salad
19:30 Mass weight gain serving
20:30 Gym work for 60-70 mins 4 days a week
23:00 casein shake then bed.

Is age catching up with me or is there a major problem with my diet. I'm not a huge guy and the above diet is about as much as i can eat without feeling stuffed or sick.

Can someone please let me know if my diet is wrong or if there are any supplements i should be taking to boost my energy levels.

Thanks for your help

Hi Del,
Your diet looks pretty decent on the whole. What I would recommend is consuming atleast 50 grams of fast acting carbs post workout. Add more fresh green vegetables to your diet. Add some good fats from cashew/almonds/walnuts, extra virgin olive oil, advacado pear, udo's oil. Other than that it looks ok. If you are feeling lethargic before you train I would reccomend taking BSN NO Xplode prior to your workout - this will really give you a kickstart!

Hope this helps

Thanks PJ

Would it make a difference if i took the mass weight gainer post workout rather than pre workout.

I think i'll give the NO-Xplode a go.

Cheers

PS Is the NO-Xplode similar to the BSN Nitrix CEM3 i asked about in another thread on supplements or should i take both.

Cheers

To be honest id scrap the weight gainer mate - 252 grams of carbs per serving is not necessary! I would personally use a pure whey isolate postworkout mixed with 50 - 75 grams glucose powder - EASY!

As for the nitrix and no xplode - stacking the 2 together will definately increase your results  - as they work together synergystically.

Cheers mate. I'll try the GN body Fuel whey isolate as well as the NO Xplode.

Thanks for your help.

PJ you were spot on with that NO explode mate.  Got bags of energy during my workouts now. Cheers.

The jury is still out on the nitrix caps though. The tablets are feckin huge and keep getting stuck in my throat. Still haven't noticed the incredible pump they are meant to give you post workout, but i've only been taking them for just over a week, so i'll see how it goes.

Glad to hear!

Unlike most supplement sites who stock every brand and product available regardless of how effective it is -  we only sell products that we have used and endore ourselfs.
