Bodybuilding Forum / Bodybuilding Training / Realistic or not?

Hi Everyone,
I've looked around this website for a while now and must thank you all for the advice I have used from reading other posts.
I was just wondering, as someone with limited funds and time, am I being realistic by thinking that through changing my eating habits and the use of a basic York weights bench I can actually change my body from a fat one to a more muscular build. I will also walk and run to build up my fitness?
I would appreciate your views.
Cheers.

no doubt about it mate,i would invest in some whey protein tho as eating a meal every 2.5/3 hours is quite difficult, make sure you have a well structured diet, eat 1.5g of protein and 2.5/3g of good carbs per lb of body weight, dont forget your essential fatty acids and drink plenty of water.as for your weights as long as you have heavy enough weights to struggle lifting them and enough dicipline to train hard and religiously you should be fine but you will eventually need to start a gym.as long as you stick to these guidelines you should gain some lean mass muscle (assuming this is what you want).try doing 30 minutes cardio on a morning too, this combined with the diet you should soon lose the fat.hope this helps.

you say you have limited time, how limited are we talking? for me the gym takes up around 1.5 hours 3 times a week, wil you be able to fit that in? how far is it to your nearest gym? personaly i don't think you can progress very far in terms of muscularity in a very basic home gym (forgive me if i'm wrong but i have an image of those plastic weights that go up to about 30kg). i train at my university gym and it only costs me £60 for a year membership, thats not unreasonable even on a students budget and offers pretty good facilities. i'm sure you'll also be able to find a similarly low priced gym if you look. train hard and you'll notice the change, in time.

Hi thanks for the replies, kind of confirmed to me what I had suspected. In terms of equipment I have about 100kgs in weight a curl bar, tricept bar, barbell and dumbells. Time wise I can probably do an hour a time weights and cardio can be fitted in arounf work lunch times etc. Finances are tight and spending 40 quid a month on a gym (which is about the average here) is a luxury i can't afford right now, not on top of the other costs attached.
Cheers for help thus far. :)

100kg should be enough to start off your training but when you out grow these you will have to go to gym. ;)
