Grenades.
I’ve been taking Grenades since Jan 28th so will give my experiences for the first week. These are advertised as “fat burners” and as I still have “love handles” and flab below the belly button area I decided to try them. They come in a “grenade” shaped” bottle of 100 capsules. The dosage states “! per day to be taken at breakfast”. I duly followed the instructions. My breakfast consists of 3 slices of toast and 1 banana washed down by a “MUG” of tea. I try to keep the carbs down for breakfast as more carbs means that the pancreas will release insulin, which does block the growth hormone and the function of the protein. I am also on Creatine maintenance of 5 grams taken with breakfast.
My supplements consist of Whey Isolate, the dose of which was originally 100 grams pre WO but on advice from PJ, I have cut down to 50 grams pre and post WO. I take this IMMEDIATELY after WO. I also have 50 grams before bed time.
After about 1 hour of taking the grenade at around 9am, I feet quite nauseous. Not enough to want to vomit, but “queasy” this has continued for the past week but seems to be easing a little. The feeling lasts for some hours. In addition after about half an hour of taking the capsule I can feel a little “light headed”. This lasts about an hour.
Work outs. I go to the gym at 2pm each day. My first exercise consist of weights for various muscle groups which tends to last 20-30 minutes. However I always do up to 30 minutes or more cardio as a second exercise using the treadmill. This is where I begin to feel the effects of Grenades. Before this, I used to get a sweat up at about 2 kilometres doing 5.5 building up to 6.2 kilos per hour speed doing Power Walking. Now I can really feel the heat inside me at less than 1 kilo covered and I am sweating readily. A side effect seems to be that I get more dehydrated and feel slightly “giddy” after I do my 30 minute or more cardio; although I don’t feel thirsty at all! I end my work outs after about 90 minutes. I have just started taking one day off each week for rest.
Love handles are still there, but I have another 93 capsules to swallow! :) :)
More next week.

Jon, when you wrote a few days ago saying you felt nauseous and light headed after taking grenades, i thought it was just a one off experience.
If you are getting these symptoms on a daily basis, i would give some serious consideration to not using them. Your body is at its weakest first thing in the morning due to fasting all night, the grenades sound like they're kicking you about a bit.....

Andy, I'll give it one more week and if it continues, I'll stop taking them.

mate i dont think your diet looksw very good, your not having any protein at breakfast time which id very important, if you want to lose weight i would take one of your grenades 1st thing in the morning before break and get out and do some cardio on an empty stomach then have your breakfast when you come back but make sure you take in 40-50 grams of protein as well as youyr carbs

Grenades week 2
This is the end of the second week taking grenades, I started on Jan 28th. The sickly and light headed feelings which I suffered earlier seem to have gone. For some reason last week I put on 4 pounds in weight and that was without a change in diet or eating habits. The instructor at my gym suggested that it could be muscle build but I didn’t agree. I think it might have been water retention as I seem to have been going to the loo more frequently especially at night. This will be because I’ve been trying to get more liquids into me as has been suggested. Anyway to try and get rid of that weight which brought me up to 15 stone 4, I increased my cardio. Again I feel that this is where I can really feel the grenades working. I sweat much more easily doing Power Walking at 6.2 kph than before. The extra cardio seem to have done the trick and I’m back to 15 stone (95 kilos) So far I still have my love handles and that layer of subcutaneous fat which prevents the outline of the muscle from showing. However, I’ve 86 grenade pills left so plenty of time to go yet. Following Tanks advice I’m going to get a “fat measuring callipers” and do a weekly check. Also as Kez suggested I’ll start taking protein with my breakfast. My original breakfast of toast, tea and banana was following advice from a previous instructor to lose weight. And it worked! Nearly 4 stone in 12 months. Basically the diet consisted of carbs in the morning, carbs and protein mid-day, only protein from then on. I’ve now changed it to be similar to that used by members of this forum. Thanks guys (and gals! :))
BTW the grenades consist of
Ma Huang
Caffeine
Tyrosine
Chromium Polynicotinate
Coleus Forskohli

OK, I've looked up the definition of the various herbs which make up Grenades. Here it is cut and pasted from vaious sites:-
Ma Huang
(Sida Cordifolia or Chinese Ephedra) is an extract from the Sida Cordifolia plant it contains essential oils and the alkaloids ephedrine and pseudoephedrine. Ma Huang has been used as a dietary supplement for over 2000 years to treat colds and flu, coughs, asthma, and aching joints.
Ma Huanghas diuretic and anti-asthmatic stimulating effects. Ma Huangis found in thermogenic or “fat burning“ supplements. Ma Huangis used for weight loss and appetite suppression. Athletes use Ma Huangsupplements for energy and body builders use Ma Huangsupplements for “ripping up“ “going lean“. Ma Huangis a central nervous system stimulant and also stimulates the adrenal glands
Tyrosine,
also called L Tyrosine, is not an essential amino acid since tyrosine can be made from the amino acid phenylalanine. Tyrosine is converted into dopamine and norepinephrine. Supplementation with both tyrosine and phenylalanine leads to alertness and mental arousal. Mind Power Rx with tyrosine works in a smooth, effective way, to increase alertness nd focus, along with mood.
Phenylalanine and tyrosine are sometimes prescribed as antidepressants, usually in combination with other nutrients and herbs that have mood elevating properties. Some doctors also recommend these amino acids for appetite control. If you have an interest in an appetite suppressant, consider Diet Rx, an all natural herbal formula. Phenylalanine may trigger the release of an appetite-suppressing hormone in the gut called cholecystokinin. Most individuals who take either of these amino acids notice improved alertness, arousal, and mood, and slight loss in appetite. Tyrosine side effects can occur on high doses which limits the usefulness of this amino acid.
Chromium
encourages the production of energy from glucose, especially in muscles, increases protein synthesis and lowers blood fat levels, including harmful LDL-Cholesterol.
Chromium works by improving the action of insulin in the body which in turn helps the body to use fat as fuel. Chromium may help to build muscle and trim fat simultaneously and is also believed to reduce appetite by triggering a satiety signal so hunger ceases after a small intake. Chromium picolinate is a well absorbed form of chromium.
Coleus Forskohlii Herb Extract
This "power" herb has an active ingredient in it called forskolin. It has been used in ayruvedic medicine for many years. Forskolin's basic mechanism of action is that it increases the amount of cyclic AMP (adenosine monophosphate) in cells by activating an enzyme called adenylate cyclase. Cyclic AMP (cAMP) is one of the most important secondary messengers in the cell. It is considered to be one of the most important cell regulating compounds.
Under normal circumstances, cAMP forms by adenylate cyclase activation due to hormonal stimulation at the cell receptor site. However, forskolin seems to bypass this reaction and allows for an increase in intracellular cAMP to occur. Why is it important to increase cAMP levels? Well, there are several benefits of this to athletes including relaxation of the arteries and smooth muscles, lowering blood pressure, enhanced insulin secretion (which can help drive carbohydrates and protein into muscle cells for energy and recovery), increased thyroid hormone function (which can help enhance metabolic rate), and significantly increase lipolysis (fat burning). Forskolin also seems to benefit other cellular enzymes as well.
The breakdown of fat for fuel (lipolysis) is actually regulated by cAMP. Forskolin has been shown to not only enhance lipolysis but it may also inhibit fat storage from occurring. This is very good news for individuals trying to lose bodyfat and get lean. Another way that forskolin may allow for fat loss to occur is by stimulating thyroid hormone production and release. Thyroid hormone controls metabolism and can enhance metabolic rate, which may translate into more fat loss.
One of the overlooked benefits of forskolin includes its stimulation of digestive enzymes, which can allow individuals to digest and assimilate their food better. It has been shown to increase nutrient absorption in the small intestine.
Forskolin has been shown to be safe and effective and has a great amount of potential as a sports supplement. As with most dietary supplements, more human research is needed but the future looks bright for this compound.

OK, having read the above I agree that grenades are certainly an appetite suppressant. I dont really enjoy eating anymore! Never seem hungry, I just eat because I've got to!

If its a appetite suppressant is that good thing or a bad thing?? Because when on a fat loss diet your meant to be eating 6 small meals every 2-3 hours and i ent one of those guys that can jus eat when they're not hungry :-/

I agree Umar, I've almost got to force the food down! :) I didnt used to, as I could eat at any time, but not since I started taking grenades!

Grenades end of week 3
OK, sorry bout being late with my Grenades updates. Well when I started taking them I used to have nausea and "light-headedness". these symptoms have gone. I even experimented with taking them on an empty stomach with no problems although after 30 minutes I did take food as instructed. You have to take them with food. At the same time I have been taking creatine which does seem to increase the metabolism. I certainly felt the difference in the first 3 weeks, when I started to sweat more easily after say 10 minutes of cadio whereas before the creatine I took 20-25 minutes. However the creatine effect seems to have worn off as for the last 3 days I found workouts very heavy going so am taking 2 days rest. I have now stopped taking this supplement as my 4 weeks course has finished.
Back to Grenades. The ingredients which I have outlines above state that they are "appetite suppressant" and I feel that, certainly with me, my appetite has dwindled. So much so that I have to almost force the food down. Im not too certain abiut the "fat burning" claims. However I have bought a pair of "fat measuring calipers" to check whats going on. I use these to measure my love handles according to the instructions. Last week the measurement was 31 mm, this week it was 30 mm. However this could also be the result of workouts and my reducing calories. (Thats why I feel knackered.) :) Still I have 77 Grenade pills to go, so will keep checking the results.

Jon if you wish to write your own personal experience and review of a product - thats fine, but please make sure the information you post is correct, after only having read your post quickly I can see that much of the info you have posted is incorrect. For sure there is a lot of info on the net - but a lot of it is inaccurate. For example the summary you cut and paste for chromuim is way off. Just think about it for a second here if it was a wonderful and as magical as it says there - it would be a globally prescribed medicine for many different medical conditions...

if you take any of these fat burners without decent diet and cardio and i can guarantee you wont lose anything.............................................

OK, PJ, I hear what you say, but it not possible for me to verify statements which have been made by supposedly informed people. For example I just have to take those I cut and pasted as correct since they came from medical papers
Kez, I do have a decent diet, thanks to advice on this forum and I certainly do a lot of cardio; at least 30-45 minutes each day. I previously lost nearly 4 stones in 12 months last year following a sensible eating regime and am merely trying Grenades to see if they will work for the remainder of the fat.

Grenades week 4
Well, some developments! Side effects have stopped, no nausea or whatever.
Had to drop the cardio as I manged to get a hamstring injury so the following results may be more to do with grenades rather than cardio that is off my routine for the next few days.
My wife measured my lurv handles fat using the fat calipers; last week they measured 30mm, this week she said they were just a smidge over 20mm. My weight remains the same but I'm not trying to lose that, it remains around 95 kilos or 15 stone plus or minus a little.
I am 5 feet 7.
I got a PM asking what colour the grenade was as it appears there are several types. These I have are a greyish-white and come in a 100 size bottle. I take one with breakfast which consists of
oatmeal + spoonfull of honey+ 2 pieces of toast+large pot of coffee (cafeine)
other meals during the day consist of
rice (flavoured with soy sauces) + chicken or tuna or salmon+ broccoli or sprouts or green beans.
I also am increasing my water intake by flavouring it with blackcurrant cordial (unsweetened) at the moment its about 7 pints a day
Also take protein shakes both before and immediately after WO and just before bed. During WO I take pure orange fruit juice. (1 pint)
Measurements change since November 15 when I started WOs
Chest = 46 from 49 inches
waist = 42 from 46
hips = 40 from 46
biceps = 14 and a half, up from 11 inches
My WO is between 60 and 90 minutes each day but I now take Thursday and Friday off.
May I say that the above is due ENTIRELY following advice and encouragement I have been given by members of this forum. Before I joined I was doing everything wrong and making little or no progress. I still have a layer of fat to get rid of as my muscles are not well defined yet.
Many thanks Guys and Jo.
Conclusion seem to be that grenades seem to be working but only time will tell. But Hell! I'm only 69, long time to go yet! :) :)
Thanks Tank, got your PM., Fab tastic!!!!

Thanks guys; this forum really supports!
I got a PM asking what the fat measurement signifies. Although the chart is in another thread I thought I'd also plce it here which seems more appropriate.
