Hi, I thought I would introduce myself as I am a first timer.
I'm 57, 318Ibs with the usual problems being overweight brings and have just started going to a gym
(better late than never).
My main reason is to lose weight and get fit but I would also like to build some muscle and strength, so
any advice on training and diet and supplements would be helpful.
Thanks.

Victor, how tall are you.  I am 5 feet 6, and was 266 pounds last year. (19 stones). I lost 56 pounds in 12 months with diet and exercise.  It can be done mate. :) but it won't happen immediately. takes time.
What is your normal daily eating regime like? Post it.

Hi Jon
I'm trying to get as much info from different sites about what I should be eating so i'm going for chicken
and turkey some fish, plenty of veg and fruit, not sure about what carbs I need.
Today I had porridge with some apple mixed in with a teaspoon of honey and sweetner for lunch I
had an egg white omlette with veg and one slice of wholemeal toast and tonight a grilled chicken brest with salad. My drinks are tea/coffee and zero sugar squash plus water.
I've lost 2 st 4lbs scince last july without any exercise but have reached plateau so i'm hoping the exercise will kickstart my weight loss, i'm 6' 1".
Someone said that twice a week is not enough exercise, what do you think bearing in mind that its only my second week.
Thanks

Victor  I found that I had to attend the gym for 5 times a week to get the metabolism going properly, each sessions lasting aboyt 45-50 minutes weight and then 30-40 minutes cardio.
I've pmed you
